Fall Colors
Niantic, CT 2020
Fall has arrived in New England. This tree, outside my house is usually one of the first to change color.

Trees at Harkness Memorial State Park
Waterford, CT 2020
The state parks in Connecticut are open for the most part, but under strict occupancy limits. On this day, Harkness Memorial State Park was not crowded at all, making it easy to maintain a good social distance.

Stump and Trunk
Niantic, CT 2020
Although it's tough to tell for sure, it looks like the stump and trunk were once attached. It must have taken one helluva saw to cut through this trunk.

What Tree is This?
Niantic, CT 2020
I'm sure those much more knowledgeable than I can identify this tree based solely on the bark. This is just one of many large trees in McCook Point Park having multiple trunks. My best guess is that this is an American Sycamore. I'll need to come back once the tree has leaves to confirm.

Fall Color
Niantic, CT 2018
Some recent storms brought down a lot leaves and with them a lot of the fall color. This tree held on to it's leaves.

Nor'Easter
Niantic, CT 2018
We had a pretty bad storm here on Friday with high winds, rain, and snow, depending upon where you were in Connecticut. Along the coast, we had only rain and wind. These "nor'easter" storms are New England's equivalent of a hurricane, and sometimes can be just as damaging. We lost power for a few hours last night, and I awoke to find this tree didn't fare too well with the high winds. It wasn't big enough to cause any significant damage, but nevertheless, by mid afternoon, it was cut down and chipped.

2017 in Review - May- Reeds and Trees
Clinton, CT 2017
At first glance, those small trees could be mistaken for large, tropical palm trees.

Birch Trees
Gorham, NH 2016
Birch trees were made to be photographed using black and white film, don't you think? One problem I've run across with using film is that I tend to forget to finish the roll in a timely fashion. This image sat in my Pentax ME Super for a year until I finally got around to finishing the roll and had it processed.

Gnarly Trees
Newport, RI 2017
This is such a distinctive tree with it's twisted limbs, it should be easy to identify, even without it's leaves. I'm not sure what kind of tree it is.
