It was hard to tell where the tasting room ended and the mural began at Diliberto Winery. It was like sitting in an Italian street cafe. Well worth the visit just to see this mural.
Food trucks are quite the thing these days, and have become very elaborate. Just about any type of food imaginable these days can be bought from a truck. This one featured gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches along with various mac 'n cheese dishes. I'm not sure which wine being offered would go best with mac 'n cheese though.
Every fall, my favorite Connecticut winery, Jonathan Edwards hosts a two-day harvest festival with, music, plenty of food, crafts, and of course, their wine. Every year it seems to get more popular and attracts a pretty large crowd.
I talked about the history behind Saltwater Farms Vineyard in a post that be found here. In keeping with the history of the property, which once served as air base, the new owners restored and improved upon an old World War II era hanger. The hanger now houses their fermenters, barrel room and very elegant tasting room/event room.
Both my wife an I enjoy having a glass of wine on a nice Sunday afternoon enjoying the scenery afforded by the local wineries. On a warmer Sunday afternoon, these chairs would have been filled with people. Not so, on this particular, cool and windy Sunday.
