The Empire Theater was built in 1882. It has served as roller rink, movie theater and the occasional theatrical playhouse to this day. More recently is is also an artisan's craft store.

Think all of the ferries from either Connecticut or Rhode Island dock in the Old Harbor. It's an easy walk from here to some great beaches, restaurants, and gift shops.

Eagle and Fort Trumbull

It was a perfect day for a ride on a ferry. The USCG Barque Eagle is berthed in New London when not on training cruises. Just beyond the barque to the left is the historic, Fort Trumbull, now a state park.

I took a break from photography and blogging last week, needing to attend to some other matters. Nothing serious, just other work that needed to be done. My wife and I had a day trip scheduled to visit, Block Island, RI, a relatively short ferry ride from New London on the high speed ferry. I'll be sharing photos of our trip this week, all taken with my iPhone.
