Ford Coupe

Griswold, CT

This Ford was parked close to yesterday's Thunderbird.  I assume from the license plate this is a 1937 Ford.  Another classic.  I love the grill work in these old cars.

  1. It's beautiful. Just compare it to the car seen on its side. Worlds of design between them.

  2. Ed, that 1937 Ford V8 60 is a beautiful car. It was designed to please the eye, not be aerodynamic. But the car was something of a disappointment as the V8 was downsized from 221 cubic inches in 1936 to 136 cu. in., and power was also down from 85 hp to 60 hp. Torque was also down from 144 lb. ft. to only 94. I suspect the smaller motor was less expensive for Ford to produce. BTW, that motor was loved by the midget racer crowd as the crankshaft and main bearings were strong enough to take major power increases associated with "hot rod" tuning.

  3. Thank you both for looking and commenting. I really enjoy hearing from you Jeff and learning a little bit of history of some of the objects I have photographed. You certainly know about automobiles! Thanks for commenting.

  4. Would you look at that beauty! I love the grill too, Ed! The owner must be sending this car to his trusted dealer regularly for car parts maintenance. Surely, this car will last many more years if proper care is also continued.

  5. That plate tells it's a very old classic! But it looks so good. The owner does a great job in restoring it, or better yet, even maintaining it. A car model that old and that pretty surely values at around the tens of thousands. I'm from New Jersey and I think I want to go to Connecticut to check that one out! Haha.

  6. Well, you should, Erwin! Haha! You shouldn’t let go of the opportunity to see classics like this. I’m always present in every car event held in our neighborhood. It’s really fun! I wonder though if that vintage is still there. Hehe!
