Not all the engines on display were antiques in the true sense of the word. The were many miniature models of steam engines on display. It was obvious a lot of workmanship went into these models. Although modeled after steam engines, they were being run using compressed air instead.
This model motor makes a wonderful b&w photo. Compressed air has a number of advantages over using steam. It is cleaner, safer, and cooler than steam. The Ag Museum curator restored a giant 65 hp Case steam traction engine. When he was done he hooked a large compressor up to it to make it run. It ran beautifully without any smoke or heat.
