Bridgeport, CT 2021
I took a break from blogging over the last week or so while I traveled to visit my daughter and her family in North Carolina. My wife and I are totally vaccinated, so we felt it was safe, besides, we both needed to see the grandkids! I meant to post this before we left, but didn't get around to it. These monk parakeets build huge nests. I'm back in Connecticut, and hopefully regular posting will resume.
So glad you could travel to see your grandchildren. This is an amazing nest for such a little bird.
ReplyDeleteI think they nest in breeding pairs. The size of the nest provides insulation against the cold in winter months. They're not native to Connecticut, and some consider them to be a pest.
DeleteWhat a big nest!!
