A "Thomasson" refers to a useless or relic piece of architecture that has lost its purpose, but is still maintained. They can be considered as works or art. I think the second story door would qualify. I doubt it has a purpose now, but it is maintained. I'll let others decide if it's a piece or art. The name comes from Gary Thomasson, a ballplayer signed by the Japanese Yomiuri Giants for a record breaking sum of money and played his last two years there, mostly sitting on the bench.
I know a photographer who actively collects "Thomasson" images, and second or third story doors with no stairs is a perfect example. That first step out the door is long and must come as a surprise.
