Breck Marshall
Mystic Seaport, 2019
The Breck Marshall is a working catboat, similar to those built in the early 1900's around Cape Cod for fishing and pleasure. This reproduction was built in the small boat shop of Mystic Seaport in 1987. Today it is used to sail visitors to the seaport around the Mystic River.

L.A. Dunton
Mystic Seaport 2019
This fishing schooner was built in 1921 and is probably one of the last engineless fishing schooners built. It fished for haddock and halibut. It came to Mystic Seaport for a complete restoration in 1963. It was listed a National Historic Landmark in 1993.

Tox Brewing
New London, CT 2019
Recently another brewery opened in southeast Connecticut, this one in New London. Naturally I had to check it out. One of the founders has a background in toxicology and is interested in poisons, antidotes and plants with healing properties which inspired the name. The former chemist in me likes the beakers used in their tastings. The beer was pretty good too.

Amtrak trains don't have a stop in Niantic. The closest train stations are in New London and Old Saybrook, both of which are pretty convenient, so there is no need for a train station here.

Niantic River Bridge
Niantic, CT 2019
Amtrak opened this new bridge in 2012 replacing a bridge that had been service since 1907. Along with the bridge, Amtrak helped to pay for improvements to the boardwalk and the beach.

Large Wall
Nathaniel B Palmer House
Stonington, CT 2019
Captain Nathaniel B Palmer was an explorer and seal hunter who is credited with being the first to document the continent of Antartica. He was born and raised in Stonington, CT and his house is now owned by the Stonington Historical Society and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. This wall is on the grounds, but I'm not sure what it belonged to at one time.
