Missing Glove
Medina, OH, 2021
I'm not sure what moves me to take certain photographs. I found this one in the archives. At the time I must've thought it was funny.

Stones
Waterford, CT 2020
This looks like a well worn millstone, seen on the grounds of the Waterford Historical Society along with some displays of antique farm implements. The picture of the stone below hints at a purpose, but I'm not sure what its use might have been.
Based on the shape and the channels in the stone, it might have been used to collect some sort of liquid product. There were no signs nearby.

Shoes
Groton, CT 2020
There were only a few people walking around Fort Griswold State Park the day I was there. I doubt these shoes are lost, just placed here for safe keeping.

Chimes
Westerly, RI 2019
Along with the 17 murals depicting the history of Westerly, RI, there are 6 musical instruments along the walking trail, like the one pictured here. According to the website, they are durable, sustainable and perfectly tuned to enhance any outdoor space. People are encouraged to make their own music with the attached mallets. I could spend hours playing with this. No music theory or skill is required.

Service Station
Greenport, NY
You don't see classic service stations like this still in use these days. This one has all the modern conveniences but retains a classic charm in my opinion.

Jail
Greenport, NY 2018
The jail was built in 1917 and contains all the modern conveniences at that time. There are three cells, two for men, one for women. The basement contains a sleeping room for traveling salesmen and hoboes. It's located right next to a local craft brewery.

Camera Obscura
Greenport, NY 2018
One doesn't see one of these everyday. It was across the park from the carousel pictured in yesterday's post. It wasn't open when I visited, but definitely worth a return visit to Greenport soon.
Camera Obscura (noun)
1. a darkened box with a convex lens or aperture for projecting the image of an external object onto a screen inside. It is important historically in the development of photography.
2. a small round building with a rotating angled mirror at the apex of the roof, projecting an image of the landscape onto a horizontal surface inside.
