Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT
Happy Father's Day to all those fathers out there. This would be my ideal way to spend a Father's Day afternoon, along with both my daughters. The Breck Marshall, is an example of a "catboat" used extensively for fishing and pleasure around these parts back in the early 1990's. This reproduction was built in the museum's Small Boat Shop in 1987.
Hope you have a great Father's Day!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of a fine, graceful small sailboat. You get me every time with these sailboat photos, but here I am 1,500 miles for the sea in any direction.
ReplyDeleteThe donkeys on my blog are along the Wildlife Loop, thousands of acres of open range filled with wild animals in Custer State Park. They are the descents of gold prospectors' donkeys from the Black Hills gold rush. They stand along the road and block cars hoping for handouts. Believe they are successful sometimes, so this behavior is reinforced. At least they are not too dangerous like the bison, but they can bite.
ReplyDeleteThat's a riot! Trained donkeys..... I never would've thought they'd be like that. You might be miles away from any sea, but you do have bison and other very interesting photos of life in the western US. I've been enjoying all your posts from the Black Hills. I hope you'll post some more photos from Custer State Park, and perhaps from the scene of Custer's Last Stand.
DeleteNice shot of a beautiful boat. I wonder if the late John Gardner was still active at the boat shop when this boat was built. By the way, I have been following and enjoying your series on Mystic and the Civil War. Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, Edd. I'll have to find out about John Gardner for you. The name sounds very familiar to me, and I might have seen something about him and the boat shop during one of my visits to the Seaport. My wife works there, so I spend a lot of time there.
DeleteVery nice picture dad!
