Gay City State Park Pond

Gay City State Park

I could find no name for this pond located in Gay City State Park.  I think it's man-made, but I'm not sure.  the Blackledge River flows through the park and into this pond.  The river provided power for a saw mill built back in the early 1800's.  Today the pond offers visitors a nice beach and a place to swim on hot summer days.  On this particular day, I was able to catch this reflection, which I'm linking to Weekend Reflections.  Enjoy your weekend and thanks for visiting.

  1. It's a beautiful shot! I think the pond's name might be Still Pond.

"Gay City State Park is a recreational paradise of over 1500 acres in eastern Connecticut with 11.5 miles of well-developed trails serving hikers, bikers and horseback riders. Open fields beckon all types of sports, picnic tables are abundant, areas are dedicated for youth group camping, and a former mill pond called Still Pond serves as a swimming area." 1. Thanks for that information, James. I missed that in my research about Gay City State Park. There was no mention of the pond's name in the state's website about the park. One learns something new every day.

  9. It is a nice reflection, Ed. Don't you love quiet days when clouds like those are floating across a rich blue sky?

I have been to places all around this park but never in it. Next summer I should rectify that.
