Men of Fundy
Janet Kidd, Director
In what was considered to be an upset, the Men of Fundy from Saint John, NB won the chorus championship in this contest. They were far from the largest chorus in the contest which goes to show you you don't have to be a big chorus to win, you just need to sing well. They deserved to win
Maybe you explain this in another post, but . . . a woman in front? I thought these were all-male groups.
ReplyDeleteYes, Jack,
DeleteWe do allow female directors. The Barbershop Harmony Society has a great need for qualified directors and women are welcome to direct. However they cannot sing in our competitions. The BHS also has affiliate organizations that have "mixed" quartets and they have their own competitions. The vast majority of our performing groups are all male, whether they are quartets or choruses. We are all about encouraging vocal music for all ages and genders.
