South Freeport, ME 2017
One can't visit Maine without having some lobster. This is just one of many lobster pounds/seafood places one can find in Maine. It's located right on the water and had just opened for the season when I drove through Maine a couple of weekends ago. I was a little disappointed in my lunch however, since their lobster rolls used cold lobster meat with some added mayo. I've heard that this is the traditional "lobster roll", especially in Maine. Readers of this blog might recall seeing some pictures I've posted here featuring Abbotts Lobster in the Rough, a famous lobster pound not too far from where I live in Connecticut. There you can hot lobster rolls which are made with hot lobster meat and are drenched with butter, not mayo. I prefer my lobster rolls hot.
Okay, now you have my mouth watering. I would love to try both hot and cold lobster rolls to see which one I preferred. In the name of science one must do an empirical test to decide such issues.
ReplyDeleteFor such a test to be valid, it might have to be repeated multiple times. It might take quite some time to make a truly informed and validated decision. People around these parts are very serious about their lobster rolls.
DeleteOh yes, many trials are needed for this empirical test to be valid. The results must also be reproducible by other scientists while controlling for all extraneous variables like condiments, beverages, company, etc. This is beginning to sound like a party.
DeleteUmmm....lobster. I'd want my roll hot with butter too.
ReplyDeleteCan you get lobsters in the Pacific northwest? Maine is famous for its lobsters.
DeleteIt is hard to beat an Abbotts lobster roll.
