A fine Civil War era fort, but I see it was once occupied by Benedict Arnold when he became a British General in an early version of the fort.
You're right! Benedict Arnold grew up just north of here in Norwich, CT. The city of New London just commemorated the the burning of New London on Sept 4, 1781 by Benedict Arnold. He's not too well liked in these parts.
Benedict Arnold, being the greatest treasonous traitor in American history when he switched sides during the Revolutionary War, is not liked anywhere.
