Lakeside Park, Fond du Lac, WI 2019
This locomotive was built in 1911 by the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady, NY and was one of 4 purchased by the Wisconsin Central Railroad. By the time she was retired in 1955, the 2714 logged over 2 million miles. My wife's great grandfather worked on this steam locomotive, so there is some family history here.
One of my relatives forwarded a photo to me of a train from the Civil War time! It was owned by her husband's family. Train you showed us could tell some stories, just as the one I have told you about here.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fine looking 4-6-2 locomotive. Great you have family history with it, and know where it is located. I have childhood memories of the steam locomotive era. They still fascinate me.
