A "Thomasson" refers to a useless or relic piece of architecture  that has lost its purpose, but is still maintained. They can be considered as works or art.  I think the second story door would qualify.  I doubt it has a purpose now, but it is maintained.  I'll let others decide if it's a piece or art.  The name comes from Gary Thomasson, a ballplayer signed by the Japanese Yomiuri Giants for a record breaking sum of money and played his last two years there, mostly sitting on the bench.

For a number of reasons, I have been unable to get out regularly to do any photography.  Today we're in the midst of a Nor'Easter, and we're expecting at least 10" of snow before this is over.  This photography was taken on this day, in 2014.  I didn't note where, however.  I have a feeling I know, but will not say for sure. You can expect more of "On This Day" photos from the archives, until I get out for more recent shots.

Old bank buildings were built to last and give the impression of being a very safe place to keep one's money.  These buildings are also one of the few places where Roman Numerals are used.  Roman Numerals are usually only seen around the time of the Super Bowl and perhaps on the faces of old clocks.  I was required to take two years of Latin back in high school and thanks to good old, Fr Nicholas, who I thought at the time was old enough to have known Julius Caesar personally, I think I figured out these dates.

MDCCCLXXXVII  is 1887 and MDCCCCXV is 1915.... I think.
