Westerly, RI 2019
Old bank buildings were built to last and give the impression of being a very safe place to keep one's money. These buildings are also one of the few places where Roman Numerals are used. Roman Numerals are usually only seen around the time of the Super Bowl and perhaps on the faces of old clocks. I was required to take two years of Latin back in high school and thanks to good old, Fr Nicholas, who I thought at the time was old enough to have known Julius Caesar personally, I think I figured out these dates.
MDCCCLXXXVII is 1887 and MDCCCCXV is 1915.... I think.
Neo-classic architecture on this fine looking building. But is it still a bank? We have an old bank building in town that is now a restaurant.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. The most recent tenant of this building was the Westerly Land Trust, who is in the process of relocating. There is talk about an un-named business interesting in establishing itself in Westerly using this building.
