Morning Coffee

Portland, ME 2014

A morning ritual for many of us, although not everyone enjoys their morning coffee at Starbucks.  Every now and then I'll indulge, but most of the time I brew my own morning coffee.

  1. I like their Pumpkin Latte, so this time of year is the only time you'd see me inside a Starbucks.

  2. I'm not that excited by Starbucks coffee. I roast and brew my own, love good coffee.

I still find giant syringes creepy. The stuff of nightmares.

    1. I'm also not a big fan of Starbucks. I've wanted to try to roast my own coffee. A friend of mine uses an old hot air popcorn popper to roast his own coffee. Apparently there are all sorts of guidelines available on the net for roasting coffee this way. I'm betting you have a dedicated coffee roaster. Sounds delicious.

    2. I also use an air popper, but I do have a dedicated coffee roaster. It isn't hard to roast coffee, and I'm sure you will love the result. The corn popper I recommend is the Presto Poppery II. It works great. The corn popper works great if the outside temperature is 50 F or more (roast outside to avoid setting off your smoke alarms). I use my other roaster inside when it is cold outside.

  3. I have a coffee or two at home, but at some point in the morning I am likely to end up at Starbucks. The coffee is OK, but more important is the ambience and the conversation.
