Historic Mills

Westerly, RI 2019

I didn't get to see all the murals on display in Westerly, so I'll have to make a return trip sometime soon to catch the rest of them.  This is the last mural for now.

A note to my followers:  Blogger has not been behaving well for me lately, and I only just recently discovered that I have missed a number of comments made to my blog.  I do apologize for not  recognizing, publishing the comments nor replying to any of them  I appreciated everyone's kind words and encouragement as I continue to regain my strength, and I am happy to say, I think I'm almost 100% again.  I've also had problems when I've tried to comment to any of my favorite blogs, so if you haven't seen any comments from me lately, it's not for lack of trying. I'm in the process of trying to track down what might have changed either with Blogger or with my browser which might be causing these problems.  Rest assured, I do look at everyone's blog and have enjoyed them.  Hopefully, I can fix these issues soon.  Thanks for visiting!

Two "Murals"

Westerly, RI  2019

I guess by definition, these would not qualify as true murals, since upon close examination, they were not painted directly on the wall's surface.  Still, very nice art work though.

mu·ral noun: mural; plural noun: murals
1.  a painting or other work of art executed directly on a wall.

Granite Industry Mural

Westerly, RI  2019

Westerly, RI is celebrating their 350th Anniversary this year.  Throughout the city, murals depicting the history of Westerly have been painted.  I know didn't catch them all on this photo walk, so I'll have to return soon to get the rest of them.  You can read about the murals here.

Diliberto Winery

Jamesport, NY  2018

It was hard to tell where the tasting room ended and the mural began at Diliberto Winery.  It was like sitting in an Italian street cafe.  Well worth the visit just to see this mural.

New London Ladies

New London, CT, 2017

I know I have posted a picture of this mural previously in this blog, but can anyone else make out what the clouds look like in this mural?  Clicking on the picture will make it bigger to help.  I had never noticed the clouds before, until someone pointed them out to me.  I guess that's not surprising. You can leave your guesses in the comments below and I'll post the answer this Friday.

School Mural

Niantic, CT  2016

I thought fish travelled in schools, not on them!

Bigfoot

New London, CT  2015

Not one of my favorite "murals" seen in New London.  It is pretty colorful though.

Murals

New London, CT  2015

This wall has been depicted in this blog on a couple of occasions.  I don't recall seeing the mural of Jimi Hendrix the last time I photographed this wall.  I looked through all my earlier photos of this building and sure enough, the mural of Jimi Hendrix was not present.

Chaplin

New London, CT  2015

The Capitol Theater on Bank Street in New London has been closed since 1974.  I'm sure that at one time it must have been the center of entertainment in the city.  Today, only the murals on the boarded-up entrances, depicting the stars of stage and screen, give any hint that there is a theater inside.
