The Chowder Crowd

I don't believe I've ever seen Olde Mistick Village this crowded, especially at this time of the year.  The temperatures  were in the 60's on this day which brought a lot of people out.  As I post this today, two weeks later, the temperatures are in the teens, and we're expecting a blizzard this week on Tuesday.  That's winter in New England. 

Puppeteers

I think if everyone in the world carried around a puppet, the world would be a much happier place.  I talked with a few of the attendees at the Puppet Festival, or should I say I talked to their puppets.  Needless to say it was a bit confusing, and in that confusion, I neglected to get any names or stories behind the puppets and puppeteers.  I need to do a much better job of getting a little more information when I venture into the area of actually making portraits.

The Pitcher

Baseball is a relatively slow game.  Most of the action occurs between the pitcher, batter and catcher. Those shots are easy to anticipate and capture.  It's very hard to catch the action when the ball is hit.  The kid has pretty good form.

I'm envious.  Check out that lens.  I guess you need a lens like that to do good sports photography.  I'm sure it can't hurt.  I know it's a Canon, and I shoot Nikon, but still, it must be nice to have.  I might have to postpone retirement a few years to afford it. ;)

It's very common now at major attractions to have hired photographers take your picture without charge.  Afterwards they give you a card with information on how to find a website where your picture will be posted.  From there, they hope you'll not only like the picture, but you'll order all sorts of prints, which of course comes with a price.  This fellow had just taken our picture and was immediately off to take his next portrait.  I wonder if they have any openings?  I'll even use my own camera.......
