It has been a number of years since I have been able to attend the annual antique auto show at Mystic Seaport. Due to Covid19, the number of autos on display was much fewer than in previous years, but so were the crowds. I think this is a Model T.
As I entered Mystic Seaport recently to look at their antique marine engine displays I was a little too late to see a bunch of Austin Healey autos which had gathered.
Obviously a work in progress.... I was more interested in the name on the door, "Pleasant Days, Short Hills, NJ". I grew up not too far from Short Hills, NJ but have no recollection of such a place or business, but this truck is lot older than I am.
I saw this Mustang at a couple of festivals this year. It was being raffled off as part of a fund raiser for a local Lion's Club. I have a hard time believing this car is already considered to be a "classic" or "antique", since I was young teenager, just becoming interested in cars when the Mustang was introduced. I even learned to drive a stick shift in my father's Mustang. I almost bought a raffle ticket.
When the Ford Model T began to sell at a price less than an Indian V-Twin Chief, sales of Indian motorcycles fell. The company went into the auto business in 1926 and designed four automobiles, this being the last, the X4. The company was perfecting this design just as the stock market crashed in 1929 and it never went into production as the company was forced to sell its automobile business.
For a short time Rolls Royce had a manufacturing facility in Springfield to make their luxury cars for the US market. This Phantom I was made in Springfield.
This is an original copy of the first successful gasoline-powered automobile built in 1993. It was built to commemorated the first test drive that vehicle in Springfield 100 years earlier.
It's only fitting that if you have some antique marine engines and perhaps an antique boat, that you would need an antique car to tow them all around. This Chevy looked in fine shape.
I found this antique pick up truck, tucked behind the some of the antique marine engines on display during the annual Antique Marine Engine Expo held at Mystic Seaport.
