Spring Hill Tavern

Portsmouth, NH  2016

Ever run across a scene or an object and think to yourself, "boy, that would make a great photo."  I experience this a lot, most recently on a side street in Portsmouth.  I saw this neat old sign and door to a tavern an thought there should be a good photo here.  I tried a number of different shots but in the end, I'm not happy with any of them.

  1. Composition is often in the eye rather than the camera. The camera in a recording device that just allows us to shoot what we see.

    1. You're right, however, in this particular case, the choices of composition were limited by what lens I had on the camera, as well as finding a proper vantage point. The camera couldn't really record exactly what I was seeing.
