Trinity Church is a National Historic Landmark, built in 1725-1726. It is the place of worship for the oldest Episcopal parish in the state of Rhode Island having been founded in 1698. I thought it would make an appropriate post for this Easter Sunday.
One of the images above is a digital image, converted to black and white using the program Silver Efex Pro with a preset that is supposed to emulate Ilford Delta 400. I'm sure trained eyes can spot the digital image. Care to make a choice?
This Federal Style church was built in 1801 and is the third building to house the First Congregation Church. The congregation dates from the 1700's and among their congregation was Benedict Arnold, who was born in Norwich.
This is St Andrews Church in Kent, CT. I was attracted to the colorful stone walls, which is probably made from locally quarried granite. The sign above the door says "St Andrews Church" and although it appears pretty worn, I believe the date below the name reads A.D 1826. I felt it was an appropriate post for Easter Sunday.
This church was dedicated in 1856 and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The architect, W.T. Hallett designed a number of buildings in New London including the original city hall, and one additional building on State St, the Metropolitan Hotel built in 1855, which is still standing. I'm not sure which building it is though. Time for some more research!
I don't think I've ever seen a church for sale. I think All Souls Church is an appropriate name for a Unitarian/Universalist Congregation. I'm happy to say that the congregation is still thriving. They just moved to a church around the block, leaving this building for sale.
This is one of many landmark churches in the city of New London. It was built in 1850 and designed by Leopold Eidlitz. I thought it to be a fitting picture for Thanksgiving.
Every now and then I get on a black and white kick with some of my photography. It was an overcast day in Portsmouth, NH when this photo was taken, so there wasn't much color in the scene anyway. I thought it would make a nice conversion to black and white.
