Peacemaker
New London, CT 2021
Please excuse the absence of posts this past week. I'm migrating to a new Windows PC laptop after years of using an iMac. I think I have things figured out on how to upload new pictures from an SD Card to my laptop, such that these pictures are added to my Apple Photos Library in iCloud making them available on all my Apple devices for editing. I can do basic editing and return edited pictures to the laptop for posting here on the blog. It's not ideal, and I hope it will be temporary as won't be able to use my trusty iMac for an indeterminate period of time. This is my first attempt. This tall ship, Peacemaker was recently docked in New London.

Ship Carvings
Mystic CT, 2020
There were very colorful and elaborate carvings that adorned the Kalmar Nyckel and I'm sure there must be some meaning behind them.

Kalmar Nyckel
Mystic, CT 2020
This tall ship recently visited Mystic Seaport for some repairs. The Kalmar Nyckel is the official tall ship of the state of Delaware and is full scale replica of Peter Minuet's flagship bringing colonists to establish the colony of New Sweden, near present day Wilmington, DE. Between the years of 1637 and 1644 she made a total of four round-trip crossings, more than any other documented ship of the American colonial era. Today she serves as a floating classroom and offers sailing opportunities to the general public. She is owned by the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation. You can read more about her, here.

The Morgan in Black and White
Mystic Seaport, 2017
For a change of pace, I like to shoot black and white film from time to time. Scenes around Mystic Seaport just look right when shot in Black and White.

Mystic Whaler
New London, CT 2017
One can't have Sailfest without at least one sailing vessel. The Mystic Whaler is a reproduction of a 19th century coastal cargo schooner built in 1967 and rebuilt in 1993. Today she's available for charters, dinner cruises, and other cruises around the New London area. She has all the latest amenities and is totally compliant with USCG regulations.

Morgan Sails
Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT 2017
I've always liked the sight of a ship's sails towering over the nearby buildings. I've seen this view many times, and have photographed it often. I think this photo finally captures the sense of scale one sees in person.

Columbia and Oliver Hazard Perry
New London, CT 2015
Consider this post my feeble attempt to hang on to the warm days of summer while holding off winter's chill. I will admit though, Fall in Connecticut has been very nice this year.

Eagle
New London, CT 2015
Long time followers of this blog will recognize the US Coast Guard Barque Eagle, one of my favorite subjects. I couldn't let the summer slip by without at least one picture of the Eagle, which was recently docked in New London.

El Galeon Andalcucia
New London, CT 2015
A recent visitor to New London harbor was the El Galeon Andalucia, an authentic wooden replica of a Spanish galleon. These sailing ships were part of the Spanish fleet sailing the West Indies over 500 years ago.
