Suspension Bridge
North Carolina South Carolina Border, 2020
There's an extensive trail system throughout Waxhaw NC which connects to trails in South Carolina. This suspension bridge crosses the border and spans the 12 Mile Creek. It looks like something right out of an Indiana Jones movie. The top two views are looking back into North Carolina.

There is obvious work being done to re-purpose this old building. I doubt they do much business these days in horses, mules and cattle.

DreamChaser's Brewery

Craft breweries are opening up everywhere, even here in Waxhaw. The brewery is housed in a building that originally was a Ford dealership, then the home of the Waxhaw volunteer fire department. The brewery opened in 2016.

AW Heath Co Building

One of the most successful mercantile business in Waxhaw was housed in this building from 1906 to 1966. One of the oldest elevators in the country is said to be within.

Waxhaw Water Tower

This water tower is a local landmark, originally built in 1940 for the sum of $7,337. It holds 49,000 gal of water. Restoration and painting was done in 2013.

John Lafayette Rodman House
Waxhaw, NC 2020
This house was owned by John Lafayette Rodman, a prominent Waxhaw businessman/banker. At one time he was thought to be the richest man in Union County, NC. The house is on the National Historic Registry, but obviously has not been maintained that well.

The Overhead Bridge

The bridge was originally built in 1888 and used for vehicular traffic up until 1940, when this was main road through Waxhaw. A footbridge since then, it was renovated in 2007.
