Chihuly and Wreath

Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, CT

The wreath was part of the holiday decorations on display at Mohegan Sun.  The glass sculpture by artist Dale Chihuly is on display year around.  It is one of 4 Chihuly's pieces on display in Connecticut. The glass work that goes into this piece amazes me.

  1. I am a big fan of Chihuly. His work is in many places around the globe. I know of a Chihuly chandelier at the New Britain Museum of Art and another at the Bushnell Hall in Hartford. I need to think a bit about where the fourth might be.

  2. Dale Chihuly's work is always breath taking. There is a huge one in Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska, and another in the Wichita Art Museum that I had on my blog about a month ago as a reflection. I'm always seeing his pieces.

  3. According to his website the fourth "public installation" was on Ocean Drive in Norwalk, however the dates shown next to this state 2001-2009, so I'm not sure it's still there. His work can also be seen in a number of museums in Connecticut including the Lyman Allan Art Museum in New London, the Wadsworth Antheneum and the Yale Art Museum. I think I'll have to visit these places soon.

  4. The only one of these I have seen in person is at the Children's Museum in Indianapolis. It is amazing! Here's a link: http://www.childrensmuseum.org/fireworks-of-glass
