Shore Line East

Niantic, CT

One of these days, I'll actually be ready to capture one of the many trains that pass through Niantic on their way to New London and points north.  The Shore Line East is a commuter train that runs between New Haven and New London, with stops at Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Clinton, Madison, Guilford and Branford.  From New Haven it's an easy connection to trains heading for New York City.

  1. Commuting by rail is the way to go, if there is a train. Use to take the North Shore Line into and out of Chicago's downtown. It went from Chicago to Milwaukee, but these days is only a distant memory.

    1. I never got a chance to ride the rails in and around the Chicago area. I lived in Michigan for 24 years, about 120 mi from Chicago, but always drove in, when I wanted to visit the area. Out on the east coast, we have pretty decent rail service between the big cities. It is a nice way to travel.
