Thames River Bridges

Groton, CT  2016

I'm sure I've posted images of these bridges many times on this blog.  Each time I see them, I'm moved to photograph them again.  Each image is unique taken since they're taken at different times of the day and under various weather conditions.  The higher bridge carries I-95 across the Thames River and is named the Gold Star Bridge.  Amtrak trains use the lower lift bridge traveling between New London and Boston along the Northeast Corridor line.

  1. Ed, That is a great looking bridge, and I can see why you are drawn to photograph it. I would also. BTW, the Cuban Government did an extensive restoration on the yacht, Pilar, a few years ago. Don't know about its sea worthiness, but it looks great now. Thanks for your comment.

    1. I looked up the Wheeler Yacht Company that made the Pilar and they are still in business making yachts, and actually make a modernized version of the Pilar. I didn't dare try to find out what it costs, but it is a gorgeous fishing boat/yacht.

  2. Don't worry about it, Ed. Monet painted water lilies, the cathedral at Rouen and haystacks over and over and no one complains about that.
