Reeds


Rocky Neck State Park, Niantic, CT

These reeds grow everywhere, especially around the ponds and salt marshes found along the Connecticut Coast.  They're are not very colorful,  but match the browns and grays of the landscape well at this time of the year.

  2. We have some similar grasses in the Midwest, but I believe they are of South American origin and are invasive in the U.S. Believe they were intentional brought in as ornamental plantings, but have escaped into the environment.

  3. I love reeds, especially when the sun shines through them. I wish we had some more here. Nice pics...
