Sharing the pond with the great egret I found were a number of Canada geese. These birds are everywhere these days. I grew up in New Jersey and I don't remember seeing too many geese as a kid. They certainly have proliferated along the east coast in the last 40 years or so.
I suspect the Canada Goose population has exploded for some reason. They now occupy every available place around Chicago, and have become something of a pest. If people feed them, and they do, the geese become quite demanding. These are fine portraits.
ReplyDeleteThey have become pests in some areas around here as well. You can find them along highways, in parks, golf courses and in just about any pond. They have plenty of food and I think their natural predators are rather scarce around here now. Thanks for looking!
