You're right about this ferry being well used. The Cross Sound Ferry Co. owns a number of ferries, all of which have been purchased from other companies and refurbished. I took one ferry across to Long Island which was a converted Navy LST, with a historical marker on it. The boat had seen service during WW II and was involved in the landing at Normandy on D-Day.
Ferry boats are a great way to travel. This one looks well used.
