The Lynx

The Lynx, Mystic Seaport

I posted a picture of the the Lynx a few months ago.  It's a replica of a schooner that fought in the War of 1812 and served as a privateer during that war.  The ship spent the winter at Mystic Seaport and is currently touring as an educational vessel teaching about the War of 1812 and the role of privateers during that war.  Here she's fully rigged and ready to set sail.  She left the seaport shortly after these images were taken.

  1. What a beautiful ship. Takes a sizable crew of skilled sailors to handle all the sails and lines. An advantage of these ships was being able to deliver a cargo on a known schedule. As you point out, they also could be fitted with guns to become fighting ships. Thanks for the post.

  2. As you might have guessed, I really like all these sailing ships. They're beautiful to see, especially when under sail. Thanks for looking.
