Trailered Boats

Mystic Seaport

Allow me two final pictures from the Wooden Boat Show.  I believe that boats belong on the water.  However there are times when they need to be transported over land.  When out of the water, one can really appreciate the amount of work that goes in to maintaining these boats.

  1. Oh no, the last two? Glad you had fun at this show. Wooden boats do require considerable maintenance. Given our temperatures we are not going to any shows this July.

    1. I thought the blog could use a little variety. I have a few more pictures from the boat show I'll post later. It's been pretty hot all over, but living close to Long Island Sound and the Atlantic, we've been spared the extreme 100-plus temperatures people have seen out in the midwest. I just hope it doesn't get too hot for you to keep you from taking photos.

    2. The extreme temperatures have kept me indoors more than I would like, but somehow times seems to go by quickly. Now that the Tour de France is over I'm going to have to find something else to occupy my time. I was happy for the winners of all the jerseys, and especially for Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky. About time the Brits had some success there. It is only 98 years without a British win.

My son's in-laws are fighting a raging prairie fire which is now only 50% contained. It has burned more than 100,000 acres and taken a number of homes. Today's high temperature there is 107. These fires were started by lightening strikes in tinder dry prairie grass. Much of the town of Norden, NE has been burned over. This is called the Fairfield Creek Fire in NE. Bet it hasn't made the East Coast news.
